Retirement Here We come!!!

How life is going to change for me!

Hubby is retiring in July! I am a very happy woman! Things are going to be great. We can travel when we want, visit our grandchildren when we want, just enjoy life together! I am so excited!

For the past 25 years I have been helping and caring for my elderly Aunt and Uncle. Sister and Brother. My Uncle lived in his own house...I helped clean and look after things along side him. My Aunt lived in her own house, I helped her with cleaning and laundry as well. As they got older things got more involved. My Aunt became a long term care patient that I had to organize her life for her, and made sure she had the care she required in her own home. I shopped til I dropped and prepared al her meals for her to heat up for herself. She remained in her house up until 6 months before she passed into Glory in 2013.

My Uncle was in his home until 2009. Then we sold his house and he moved in with us. One year later he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The past 8 years have been pure torture watching him slowly lose his memories of the past. He forgot he was married once (35 years of marriage to be exact) But he never forgot his time in the Air Force in WWII as the Navigator in a crew that flew the Lancaster.  The Lord was good to him, he had his health, and his wit, and his enjoyment of life...he just didn't remember a whole lot. The last 3 years have been the hardest with him losing the ability to enjoy the things he loved, like feeding the birds. He passed away on January 4, 2017. I am thankful for the time I have been able to spend with him and care for his needs. I am also thankful for the fact that he never ever got testy about anything. He was a man with a sweet heart!

Now, with him gone, I have to reinvent myself. My art is my first goal. To get back into doing something every day. I had set it apart for a long time as the mental process of caregiving made it difficult to be creative. My Artistic juices are starting to flow slowly. I am a new creation...creating!

I have so many goals. My first adventure will be an Ultimate Artist Challenge at Ruthven Park, here in a local community called Cayuga. I am scared and excited both at the same time. I haven't done this before, so it will be a learning curve.

So, thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. I am still working out the kinks in my technology usage...I will get the hang of it...eventually! Bless you!
